The Kerrigan Drive house is a magnificent sanctuary on ten acres of tranquil oak groves and lush gardens.

As the artist gained recognition in the late 1950s, he needed a larger work area, so the Seredas offered him studio space in their workshop at the Kerrigan house. To provide natural light so he could work on his canvases, Sereda installed a skylight. Oliveira gifted his friends two of his early seascape paintings in return for use of the space, which the couple proudly displayed on their walls for the next 60 years.

"You go maybe a third of a mile down the driveway, and walk through the gate to a big garden area," says Walsh, referring to the main house. An oak-lined driveway leads to a stately oak tree, which greets you at the circular courtyard entry. There, you can find a covered loggia, and hear the Zen sounds of a fountain.

"When you step through the front door, there's a fireplace, and as you come around the corner, you see the bay right there," Walsh says. "I would definitely move there if I could afford it!"

Leaving the city behind, the lush property features a panoramic, three-bridge bay vista, and the Marin Headlands, visible from the living room. Within its expansive 4,000 square feet, five bedrooms, and two-and-one-half baths, the main house has a timeless feel of elegance crafted with an Asian sensibility.

Highly embellished copper-clad exterior doors display a luminous patina, along with lovely coffered ceilings. On the main level, a copper-framed fireplace provides a wonderful focal point, with shoji screens, detailed with handcrafted glass inserts, providing transitions between rooms, and full-height corner windows taking in the sweeping vistas.

Continuing on the main level, one finds three large bedrooms, one-and-a-half baths, and a newly renovated chef's kitchen, with courtyards extending the living space to the outdoors. The lower level features two bedrooms, a full bath, a spacious family room with a large wet bar, and a separate media room outfitted with a special acoustic ceiling that modulates the sound traveling through the rest of the home.

Included in the estate property is an adjoining 1.8-acre lot, gated driveway entry, attached two-car garage, and a circular drive with ample parking for guests. The detached workshop and separate backyard structure is a flexible space that can be utilized as a studio, stable, or children's clubhouse.

The Kerrigan property offers endless opportunities for outdoor recreation, with the Chabot Golf Course, Sequoyah Country Club, Lake Chabot Regional Park, and Knowland Park Arboretum all nearby.
