Anyone replace their doorbell with Video/Intercom System?
I was curious to find out if anyone has replaced or supplemented their doorbell with a video/intercom system, and if so:
- what make/model video intercom system you selected
- if you were able to utilize your existing doorbell wiring or if you needed to rewire
- if you were able to install yourself or if you had it professionally installed
As a new Eichler owner, it seems like a video intercom system is a must-have since its impossible to tell who's at the front door because of the atrium entryway.
Loni Nagwani has, she was kind enough to let me take a look at it, and its very nice. She wrote about it with model details in one of the back issue of the Eichler Network news letters.
Loni, a real estate agent and bona fide Eichler enthusiast, attains a rare blend of modern and original in her own Eichler. Always generous in sharing her knowledge, she is therefore just as likely to offer tips on restoring those ailing closet doors as providing sources for high tech gadgets (such as the videophone).
