Can you paint over Ceramic Tile flooring?

Hi all - one more flooring question, given the demo of removing tile is a big job, could you PAINT over existing tile (we have white, want a darker color) given the flooring is radiant heat? We are trying to figure out our best options between adding laminate hardwood flooring over the tile or just simply painting the tile a color we like much better. thanks!!!
