Ceiling thickness?

Anyone know how thick the redwood boards that make up the ceiling are? I'm planning on screwing a bike rack into the ceiling, but I'm not sure how thick the boards are.

Our 1958 Sunnyvale house has standard 2x (approximately 1.75 inch) thick redwood ceiling boards. You can probably confirm on yours by looking at the hole cut for the boiler and/or water heater flues. On our house you can see the thickness of the wood there.
