Hi all, we are looking for someone who could unfreeze our frozen 1959 thermador cooktop knobs. Every thing works and looks great, but we can't turn the knobs anymore.
Anyone know of a delightfully handy person/electrician type who we can hire to do this? Anyone with similar problems?
Thanks, Gail

I'm unclear from your description if the mechanism itself has seized beneath the surface or if there is so much guck from over the years that it can't turn.

To the best of my knowledge, the knobs on most of the Thermador stovetops pull off (for easier cleaning or, in my case, to keep the controls away from young fingers).

I suggest you try pulling the knobs off by prying evenly around each center post (rather than jack it up all on side and risk cracking it).

Failing that, I suggest you contact the authorized Thermador repair center. E-mail me directly for one in San Jose...to: eichfan AT rawbw.com

Cheers.
