Hi! Anyone have experience in do-it-yourself re-coating of a foam roof? Of course when you buy the foam roof, they tell you that sure, it's easy and inexpensive to re-coat it yourself, but then when it comes down to it, they want $5K to do it for you, after telling you how difficult and rife with problems it is to do it yourself. Well, that's salesmanship, and I would like to hear from anyone who has done this themselves! Please share your experience!!
thanks,
malcolm
I tried (about 12 years ago) to recoat my foam roof myself using "Sno-Coat" (if memory serves) which I'd been told was a high quality product. (It certainly was expensive enough) Despite following the instructions very carefully my recoated roof turned into an awful mess the following winter with huge sections peeling off. This made the subsequent professional recoat much more expensive than it would have been as they actually had to foam over with new foam some of my ragged coating.
I wouldn't try it again, but YMMV and good luck.
