Does anyone know how far beneath the surface the radiant heating pipes sit? We are in the middle of a bathroom remodelling project, and the toilet we chose requires drilling 2-3" screws into the bathroom floor. We are now concerned that these screws may hit/damage the radiant heat pipes.
Does anyone know how deep the radiant heat pipes are? And if they are normally placed in close proximity to the toilet drain hole?
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
About 4 inches below the surface of the concrete, and there is radiant heat pipe within 6 inches of the front of the base of the toilet in our master bath. Get a stud/pipe finder it will help.
Our steel pipes were "barely" two inches down in the concrete. I was really surprised by that when we had our floor open. Be careful and good luck!!
Thanks for the feedback! I'll check out Home Depot to see if they sell anything that detects copper pipes. We have a stud-finder so I'll try using that first.
Thanks again!
