I am in need of an original Eichler door. Any ideas on where to find one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

If you post dimensions and your location you are more likely to find a neighbor who has one.

You don't mention the age of your Eichler. In the older homes that have panelled walls, matching a new mahogany door can be tricky. In the mid 70's homes with more drywall it would probably not be that big a deal.

If you don't find an original door, you should be able to order a hollow door to specifications with your local lumber company. The local San Jose lumber company I used offers "custom door matching", by which they mean if you take your old door in they will router it for you (i.e.match the hinge location and doorknob hole).

There are cautions on using this kind of service, a few of which include:

- stay while they are doing it so you can answer any questions

- take your hardware with you and discuss the routering so they won't automatically assume it is standard size (the Eichler door hole is smaller)

- take your original door back with you until you have hunge the replacement door and know it fits correctly. If it doesn't and you have left the original with the lumber yard to dispose of, you'll no longer have a template to work from.

Good luck.
