Hi,
Our Eichler has an ugly window glass on the top of the front door. We would like to place it with the original glass.
Does someone know where to get the glass and how to replace it?
Thanks

Your local glass shop should be able to get you a replacement, especially if you have an example that you can point to, to say "I want glass like that in this spot here". If the problem is more complex than that, you can post a picture of what you have, or a more detailed description of what you're looking for.

Any glass shop can replace it and with any type/color/shape/etc glass you wish to pay for.

Suggest you consider double pane. They can make/order up a double pane that has dry, nitrogen filled gas so it won't fog but insulate.

One of the greatest heat loss is through single pane windows.

I didn't want to pay for the added cost of a premade double pane, so glazed in a traditional single pane of glass and made up a second glass pane that was hinged with gasketing so that it could be swung out to clean the inside surfaces. Gasketed so that it's gas tight enough to have a good R value, as the distance is about 1" vs the 1/8" or so on the store bought double pane windows.

The original glass replacement is called MISTLITE glass. The only problem I ran into is that it is not available tempered above 8 ft. I had to replace a 9ft. skinny pane with some other kind called P516.

Correct, the original obscure glass is Mistlite; it is available thru Palo Alto glass, and I know of someone else that can get it. It is possible to have it glazed into dual paned frames, but it is expensive.
