We have the original steel Arcadia sliding patio doors. The locks/latches are breaking and we desparately need replacements. Is anyone updating their patio sliding doors and scraping their old doors. I'd love to get/buy several latches.

Thanks,

If you're looking for the latch mechanism, there are replacements available out there. Your local sliding glass door person or glass shop might have some. We had a broken pane replaced by the local glass shop and they were pretty familiar with these sliding glass doors (I have the original arcadias as well) and even had a new latch in the truck with him.

I hope I have what you are looking for. They are off the arcadia sliding doors and the latch is attached on the outside of the hardware instead of hidden behind the handle? Let me know if that sounds right and I can get you some photo's.

Just in case you did not notice and have no luck finding what you need, there is a vendor that advertises on this site and specializes in repairing "anything that slides"- sliding glass doors, windows, garage doors, etc. The owner found this niche and claims to have a selection of original latches and other hardware, plus sources/ways to obtain new ones that will work while still maintaining the simple design of the original.

I only mention it because the link can be hard to locate. Click on Home improvement Resources, and under "Get a Fix," note the first company under Sliding Door Repairs
