I'm very interested in purchasing a Streng home in the Greater Sacramento area. My husband and I are super contemporary, and well, we just can't do the lofts downtown at this time because we have a 9 year old who needs that homely feeling rather than apartment/city feeling. Anyhow, we discovered Streng homes from our agent, and the many possibilities they have for our contemporary taste. These types of homes are awesome, however, I've researched all over the net and can't find anything on how these homes were constructed. Since they were tract homes, will they fall apart eventually the way the newer tract homes do. From the outside, the building seems to hold very strong, and from reading many articles of homes like these, people really do love their contemporary home and the sense of peace it brings to them. The roof is newer and it has a central HVAC system. I don't believe it has dual pane windows, which is something we'll have to update. We plan to put in bamboo wood floors and granite tile in the atrium area. Anyhow, any advice, your thoughts, what you love about your home, ect. We'd love to hear it all. Thanks, T

All homes will fall into ruin if not taken care of. I have seen new homes in tracts in Elk Grove that are only 10 years old and they are falling apart due to neglect. That being said, there are some Streng and Eichler homes here in Sacramento that have held up very well due to the owners' loving care. Others are just plain ruins or have been compromised my horrific "remuddling". The biggest thing to worry about is termites. Make sure you use a reputable pest inspector AND have them check both inside and out.
