Regrouting tile?

Hi
We're in a Greenmeadow Eichler in Palo Alto with tile in good shape. I am considering either regrouting it myself or having it done....it is a tub surround and a large master shower. I'd appreciate any insights into how difficult it is as a DIY task, or if you can recommend someone to do the work, let me know. My email is sallyhaatpacbelldotnet.

I had the "grout experts" come by and they said they could do my 5x7' almost fully tiled bathroom for $600 and it would take them a day (they probably have all the right tools). I'm still thinking about it since it is still cheaper than a full bath remodel. As a comparison, a handyman I use said he has done it and it has taken him 3+ days so I figure it would be comparible in cost.

I also saw than Dremel has some regrouting tips if you decide to do it yourself.

Let us know what you end up doing.

This is a great DIY project (as in doing it yourself). Home Depot has a little carbide chip covered blade with a handle for this. A dremel tool with the right tip would save lots of work....but a steady hand and goggles are a must. You could do this work a wall at a time. I believe Home Depot also has a regular class on installing tile, which would cover grout application. The only mistake that can't easily be un-done would be chipping the tile. At least, if you decided to later hire someone, you would have a better idea of what was involed.
