restoration of the bathroom cabinet

Again, thanks for the responses to my earlier posts!
We are refinishing the guest bathroom medicine "vanity" cabinet. We will take it out and clean/repaint the interior.
The problem: The frame along the outside edge of the mirror "chrome?" is pitted and rusty. What are my options?

I don't have direct experience with this myself. However, if it's the "chrome" frame I guess you could try chrome wheel cleaner from an auto store. Just a thought.

An auto body shops should be able to rechrome it for you. You could also have it sand blasted and powder coated a color should you want to go that direction.
