Does anyone know where I can obtain the metal piece ( spit) that you put the meat around for the interior gas grill

Are you saying that original Eichler kitchens came with interior gas grills? If not, and if you are looking for a source for replacement parts, I can steer you to some web forums where someone may be able to help you. You can send an e-mail to cathyelynn at earthlink dot net.

Some Eichler models did indeed come with interior gas grills in the kitchen, built in to brick or cinderblock firebox/chimneys. I've seen this in Los Arboles in Palo Alto (1959-60) and in similar vintage models in the San Mateo Highlands.

I have seen these built in barbecues in two Eichler homes in Sunnyvale. At one open house I noticed that the owners had turned it into a mini wine cellar. :)
