I have a few hours to kill while visiting San Jose on business in August and would like to see some Eichlers, Jones/Emmons, Anshen/Allen and/or mid-century modern work in the vicinity of the airport. If anyone has suggestions regarding work to see, please let me know. Thanks....

There are three nice neighborhoods of Eichlers nested together about 15 minutes from San Jose International. You can mapquest them using the following intersections:

Dry Creek Rd. and Adele Place
Hudson Drive and Comstock Lane
Fairwood Avenue and Fairglen Drive

Jack,

A nice area is in Sunnyvale with higher end Eichler homes from early 70s. Off Fremont Ave, close to Hwy 85. The addresses are Allison and Lennox Way, Zipcode area 94087.
15 minutes from the airport.

If you don't mind a slightly longer drive (20-30 min, depending on time of day) from SJC, I recommend Greenmeadow, in Palo Alto. 270 homes, built around a community center, with strong preservation. Built in 3 phases from late 50s to early 60's. Could probably setup tours of some homes in various designs.
Ours is ca-1962, in very authentic condition.
To get there...take 101 north, exit at San Antonio, L on San Antonio at the light. Right on Alma, right on Ferne....follow Ferne up and around to Scripps and drive into the center.
regards
S
