(Long story short: blog had to move to a new home, http://eichler.bitfodder.com/ -- no new content though...)

Hi, I'm just starting a blog to capture over a year of remodeling work on a basic Eichler. A very long year, full of pain and learning. http://eichler.kimigo.com/ I just posted a few pictures of the house BEFORE. The plan is to post pictures and info of each and every step of the process. We're talking about just everything: 2 baths, 1 kitchen, flooring, walls, sidings, roof, furnace, windows, garden... For the purists out there I must say that there wasn't much left of the original Eichler, apart from the shell. So please don't flame me if you notice some drywall here and there in the pictures! You'll notice that I refer to the Eichler Network quite often in my posts as I have spent countless hours collecting tips and info here before starting! Thanks everyone on the forums. Hope this will be of interest to someone. /dmd Eichler re-mod: http://eichler.kimigo.com/

I'm currently remodeling my Eichler...using a contractor. I have just started and have dropped major bucks already.

Yes, the few contractors I've used cost me a lot more than expected too. Even though I've done over 60% of the work myself, remodeling is an extremely expensive thing...

Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing the end result. We recently bought an eichler that was in need of total renovation. We started our remodel in mid April and we're set to move in August 12th. We did most of general management and use subs and a primary contractor. It's been a long process with many challenges with this type of home. We too did almost everything. 2 baths, kitchen, floors, furnance, carport to garage, new room for office. We still need to paint the exterior and do landscaping. I am not sure what expensive is but sure was quite a bit of $$. I will put together some picture when I am all settled in.
