Thermador original oven repair?

Greetings all,

I've searched the forum and found a post on this from 2003 but nothing more recent, so it seemed wise to ask again: I've got two Thermador WO-16A ovens that need repairing. (Unfortunately, I'm not sure what exactly is wrong with them, so I wouldn't know what parts to be looking for.)

I've called all over the Bay Area, it seems, with no luck so far. I really love these ovens, and I want to fix them up if at all possible! Any recommendations? (If postings with specific recommendations are not allowed, please feel free to contact me privately-- -- I would be most grateful!)

Thanks for any help/advice!

Also, I have a spare WO-16A that you can have for parts if you wish.

Just let me know if you have any interest.

I've mentioned this before, so please forgive me for repeating it if you've already tried but...

You can check with Thermador (http://www.thermador.com or 1-800-656-9226
MON - FRI ~ 5AM - 8PM PST) for the name of the authorized Thermador repair/service/parts center in your area.

I highly recommend having one of their guys come out for a service call (about $75 last time I did it). They can check the problem (and anything else you want to ask about) while they are there. At least with the service call, you will have a professional opinion about the cause of the problem and proposed solution. If it involves parts no longer manufactured, ask for the part name or number so you can search further.

good luck.

I'm looking for some information on replacing my vintage Thermador wall oven.

Most modern ovens seem to be much wider than this making it hard to replace without remodeling. It still works but it's getting tired and I need something a little more dependable.

The cabinet opening for the oven is approx. 19.5"W x 23H. If the new one is much higher, that might be ok as I could modify the cupboard space above or below to support it. The issue seems to be the width.

Certainly someone out there has replaced an old Thermador without remodeling their kitchen, right?

If you have or know of a newish oven that is around 20" wide (opening), please let me know! Thanks!

I looked all over to find a replacement for my WO-16A that wouldn't require a kitchen remodel. No such luck. I ended up repairing it myself. I was able to buy replacement heating elements locally in Dallas. I also was able to match the flat pins and buy new receptacles. Now, I am having problems with the thermostat. At this point, I don't know if the problem is in the switch or the thermocouple (which was recently bent on accident). I would be interested in acquiring an old unit for parts. Please contact.

Randy. I'd be interested in knowing where you found replacement pins. Mine are vertical flat pins and I can find them anywhere.
