thermador oven 18A

I read Mr. Martin's article on Thermador turning 50.

I live in a 1954 ranch in Buffalo, NY.

I'm looking for a broiler element or broiler element compatible to the one in the Thermador WO-18A, serial 2213, and probably should think of a bake element--just for future stockpiling.

I'd also like to know about the temperature sensor in the oven and thermostat (running 50 degrees high). Thermostat would be great or any information on how to adjust it.

My house that is a mix of Eichler elements (there are a couple more authentic wanna-be houses on my street) but roof lines are a little steeper due to snow and wind considerations.

If anyone could point me to compatible replacement parts or salvaged working parts--and a "how to", I would be extremely grateful.

(I'd also like to know how to make it so the clock doesn't hum all the time.)

Many thanks.

Places to look for replacements parts, in order of preference:

- Post here, as you have, your oven model and part needed.

- Call Thermador, just in case they have old stock or can get you the part number to aid your search elsewhere. They also sometimes have PDF's of the manual or installation which they will email you.

- Try repairclinic.com or e4yh.com ("essentials for your home", used to be marcone), searching on the model number (wo18a, for instance)

- Search ebay for used parts using "thermador" "oven" (and include "vintage" if you want to narrow the field)

Good luck.

Jake
