"Mr. Frank's knowledge was nationwide; he had special insight about the best zip codes in the country! I like to think when the time came for Mr. Frank to retire from his service, he chose 93923 as his future zip code."

Situated at the end of a cul-de-sac, there is keyed access to a rare, private getaway beach that is only accessible to owners on the street. Whether inside or out, the dream is alive here, beginning with the original, hand-carved front entrance door that opens into the foyer where ocean views to Yankee Point await, lazily stretching across the horizon.

An original feature, the stone fireplace in the living room is the cozy complement to dreamy nights lounging above the rocky cliffs and ocean waves below. The home's 2,466 square feet of space includes a kitchen with pantry, three bedrooms, and two baths, plus a sunroom, and a detached guest studio that includes its own bath.

Angles abound with Anshen and Allen's signature flair here, taking in the picturesque wildflowers and purple spikes of the ‘Pride of Madeira' plants dotting the cliffs.

"If I were to describe this property in one word it would be ‘thoughtful,'" Staples says. "Each portion was designed with both practicality and presence in mind. A true piece of art, but one that is meant to be enjoyed."

An invitation-only affair is scheduled at the property on Friday, April 28, from 5pm-8pm. Co-sponsored by the AIA, the event will be architecture-themed, and honor the 70th anniversary of the house.

"We're throwing a 1953 ‘Mad Men' black-tie event, an homage to both the architects and the home," says Staples. "To pay respects to how and why they designed it. To honor that, we'll be sipping martinis and passing the hors d'ouevres with a party that they might have imagined back then."

"I smile when I think what a wonderful home it must have been for our former U.S. Postmaster General," adds Weathers, "and will undoubtedly be for its new owner, regardless of title."
