Of course, if you're more of a beer drinker than a wine connoisseur, a company called Storm Dancer Designs produces a different chain featured in the magazine that is made from recycled, painted beer bottles (PDF chain #8).

Ekwall's chain that is profiled in CA-Modern is called Chakra (PDF chain #12) and gives off a full rainbow of color when light streams through it, a characteristic that she says makes it even more soothing than non-transparent rain chains.

"It's just a different feel that people receive," she said, explaining that her other model of chain gives off more "jewel tone" colors. "It gives an aesthetic appeal to their garden. It's something that is eye-catching."

"And it's calming," Ekwall added of the visuals provided by water traveling down a chain. "When it rains, it's nice to see something functioning [with it]."

"It's fun to just look at them," agreed Verma, hastening to add that the sound is also part of the allure that has prompted her to hang eight rain chains all around the outside of her home. "It makes a fun, melodious sound."

So, be sure to imagine the gentle melody of trickling liquid when you check out 'Just Add Water,' featured here first—but also coming in print in the winter '17 issue of CA-Modern magazine.
