If you don't need more capacity, and want to keep it simple, there are modern 100-amp panels that will fit in the original space, but you have to search them out. Murray Electrical Products makes one with the knockouts at the top and requiring no space on the sides. If the home has an original Federal Pacific Electrical service panel, experienced Eichler electricians may recommend replacing it because of the product's fire history. Don't panic, though; many Eichler homeowners still have these panels intact after more than four decades—and their homes are still standing!
