On Saturday night 3/3, from 8-10pm, master entertainer and historian Charles Phoenix will present ‘Mad for Mid-Century,’ a special event that is sure to be filled with madcap adventures, phenomenal futuristic cars, fun fashions, and more. There's also an optional costume stroll, so dress in retro Space-Age style and join in.

Capping off the weekend is the ‘Mid-Century Modern Marketplace’ that is open to the public, with vendors, a book signing with local authors, and a puppet show presented by a master puppeteer of Children's Fairyland. The Aloha Caftan Society entourage will be strolling the grounds, and "everybody's invited," says Baby Doe. "So, if you have a caftan or muumuu, join in the fun!"

An art show that is open to the public will also be featured from Friday through Sunday with 20 participating artists.

Checking the schedule of seminars, here’s one that will immediately put visitors in the mid-century resort mood: ‘Lilly Pulitzer - Queen of Resort Wear,’ presented by designer Nicole Vasbinder Pacheco, the designer behind Nikolani Aloha Wear.

One that Eichler owners definitely won’t want to miss is ‘Untold Tales of Eichler Homes,’ presented by the Eichler Network’s very own Dave Weinstein, well known for his passion and expertise in mid-century architecture.

‘Textiles and Designs of Alexander Girard’ is another—presented by collector Vince Bravo. Discover how Girard's unique style of interiors helped colorize mid-century environments.

Intrigued? The conference site is located about an hour north of San Francisco. "You'll know you're getting close when you see towering pine trees, wineries, and antique shopping," says Baby Doe. "It's Sunday-drive beautiful."

If you're looking to fly in, the Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport is conveniently located in Santa Rosa.

Check the website for available packages. A platinum package assures attendees VIP treatment, and there are also gold and night level packages. Or go ‘a la carte’ and pick and select individual events.

"We care about mid-century preservation, and want these buildings, restaurants, and bars to be around for the next generation," says Baby Doe. We're building a community; we love the vintage aesthetic but not the vintage values of the ‘Mad Men’ days.

"People today want something joyful that you can look forward to, so Resort-O-Rama is something where you can forget your day and mingle with people with like interests."
