Hi Y'all,
I'm new to the Eichler network but a longtime mid-century buff. I bought a 1964 mid-century, butterfly-shaped house in Laguna Beach last summer (one of three on a block) with a central atrium that had all the hallmarks of an Eichler. The sales agent gave me the name of some obscure architect I'd never heard of. However, I recently consulted my next-door neighbor, who told me it was indeed an Eichler. I'd never heard that Eichler built in Laguna. So I went to City Hall yesterday and checked the records of all 3 houses. None of them had an original building permit, So can anyone tell me how I can establish the provenence of this fab home? I'd really love to know if I have the honor of owning an Eichler. Thanks.
Billy
Can you give the name the sales person mentioned--did it start with L?
I don't think Eichler built in laguna beach, though you're not the first to ask. I might have suggested A. Quincy Jones... 1/2 of the Jones & Emmons team that designed a number of Eichler homes.
You might try posting your question to the Southern California folks at:

Good luck.

Thanks for your help. The initials of the Realtor are MB - but he's new and I assume clueless.
Do you have radiant heat, floor to ceiling glass, some wood paneled walls, tongue-and-groove ceilings, sliding garage doors, distinctive kitchen cabinets? Post a photo. Maybe you're living in a 'lost' Eichler.
Hi Billy,
Sorry I didn't state my question clearly.
You said the realtor mentioned an obscure architect--it was the architect's name I was looking for, if you remember.
Cheers.
Jake
not an Eichler. But I am sure it's a great house! Post up a photo of the exterior if you can. :)
Thank you all for speedy responses. I tried to post some photos, but this site makes it was too complicated (or I'm just a Luddite). I'll try and figure out how to post on a public site. Anyway, yes and no to many of the questions:
glass everywhere
central atrium
tongue and groove ceiling
beautiful wood paneling everywhere - and beams
kitchen is new so no identifiable features
open carport underneath (house is raised for the view)
