Preserving Eichlers in Menlo Park

Greetings,
As one who lives in an Eichler and appreciates their history and style they bring to our neighborhood, I'm increasingly disturbed by the rate at which Eichlers are being bought and torn down in our area. I live in Menlo Park and wonder:
a) what suggestions for action do others have that could be taken with my city council on this matter,
b) what success has been had by other communities, and who could I learn more from?
c) are there others in Menlo Park that share my concern, and if so, would you like to discuss it further?
