A large General Electric 'cooks kitchen' features equally convenient access for indoor dining room service, or outdoor dining.

Of the four bedrooms, two are suites; the main bedroom suite is set apart from the house, and includes a large dressing room, an updated bath featuring a terrazzo Roman tub, and a private court for sun bathing.

Campbell & Wong Architects was a prominent firm established in San Francisco after World War II that was honored for their design abilities and skillful use of space.

John Carden Campbell (1914-1996) is credited as one of the first architects to utilize the A-frame style to construct a house, which lead to one of the firm's most renowned projects, the 1951 Leisure House, exhibited at the San Francisco Arts Festival. Campbell attended Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design, and taught interior design at UC Berkeley Extension.

Worley K. Wong (1912-1985) studied at the University of California, Berkeley. Along with commercial and institutional projects, other key projects include the Sunset House of Tomorrow (1942), the G.E. Fine Apartments (1952), and UC Santa Cruz Master Plan (1960).

For those looking for an exclusive mid-century getaway, they'll find the Wilmarth Residence just minutes from downtown Colusa, with its mix of restaurants and retail shops, historical sites, and the Colusa Casino Resort.

Also nearby is the Colusa-Sacramento River State Recreation Area. On 67 acres, this state park offers picnicking and camping, and has a boat launch. Riverbank cottonwood and willow trees look out over one of the finest fishing areas in California, with king salmon, striped bass, steelhead, and rainbow trout.

"As design freaks and restorationists,” says Andrew Mandolene, one of the property's current owners, "it's super-stimulating daily to be surrounded by amazing, thoughtful architecture. The way light by season fills the house, illuminating every material and detail from morning 'til night, begs constant photos.”
