Interior door knob adjustment

Hi
We have original door knobs on the interior doors....a dull nickel color, circa 1962 Greenmeadow Eichler in Palo Alto. One is very loose. I can't find any of the little holes to remove the plates, etc. with certainty and I am afraid to mess it up. Any suggestions? There is a small hole in the narrow trim piece between the knob and the plate right against teh door...but I can't see a screw in it.

There is a ring next to the plate on the door that has two dimples in it on opposite sides; you can wrap a cloth around it (to avoid damaging the finish) carefully using channel locks pliers, turn it until it until snug (internal snap ring pliers are ideal if you have acess to a mechanics' tools).
It is important to not over tighten, as you can collapse the estuceon plate (next to the door). Have fun.
