Three 1951-54 Eichler (sans atrium but with all the other Eichler characteristics) in the "Lost Eichlers" neighborhood, part of Sherman Oaks area in San Jose (just east of Leigh Ave and San Jose City College) will be on view this Saturday, June 2, from 11:00 Am to 4:00 PM in the Buena Vista Vintage Working Class Home Tour (the rest of the tour is of restored turn-of-the-century bungalows in the Burbank, Buena Vista and Delmas neighborhoods of San Jose).

My Eichler home will be on the tour and will feature big and small measures you can do to a home (and to an Eichler) to make it more energy efficient without disturbing the original aesthetics.

Tickets ($15 single or $25 for two) and maps are on sale at Antigues Colony on San Carlos Street or this Saturday at 347 Menker Ave. San Jose 95128. (on Menker between San Carlos St. and Parkmore - 280). To those from out of town, take the Leigh/Bascom Avenue exit from fwy 280. Go north on Leigh, east on San Carlos, and south on to Menker to reach 347 Menker Ave. For info, call 408 821-8594 or 408 646-1937.

This area of Eichlers has been overlooked by the books on Eichlers, yet many of the homes in this neighborhood were designed by Anshen and Allen (included in tour).

Enjoy,
