noise from foam board insulating roof

We live in remodeled Eichler in palo alto. We installed "foam board insulation" on roof during the remodel. Here is problem. The roof/insulation makes cracking noise. some time this noise is loud and annoying. Is there something we missed in the installation? How can we eliminate the noise?
