Windows: what brand?

Hi,

I have started to remodel the bedrooms and I want to change the windows to get dual pane windows.

Some neighbors raised some concerns over the condensation due to the aluminium frame.

Can it be different than my original windows which today do not have any condensation?

Any specific brand that will prevent the condensation? I heard about Milgard, Bloomberg.

E-mail recommendations directly to: pubmessages AT sbcglobal.net

Thanks

I think your email address is bad - I got a bounce. I'm also shopping for horizontal sliding windows and neither Milgard nor Blomberg make a thermally broken aluminum window in CA (Milgard does for other parts of the country, or in CA if you buy more than 75 windows).

We've been very happy with our new Blomberg windows. I did a blog post about them last year: http://eichlerific.blogspot.com/2008/12/local-resource-windows.html

I understand original Eichler window companies are still plugging along:
Arcadia http://arcadiaproducts.com/ - made the sliding glass doors
Rusco http://www.ruscowindow.com/ - made the sliding windows "made from 'bonderized' steel.

not sure if you already got the job done.

we evaluated all double pain windows and sliders across the price spectrum and went with a local manufacturer. We are beyond satisfied with the outcome both in terms of the aesthetic, quality of product and the contractors were clean and meticulous, which was a considerable first for us given our long history with messy and undisciplined contractors. All this and a fairly affordable price.

Anyway these guys dont advertise heavily they are mostly busy through word of mouth. If you are still looking ping me back. We have an eichler in Burlingame and you would be welcome to come check out the final product if you are still in the market.

HI Alan,

We just had a burglary at our Eichler in Sunnyvale. They came in from one of the original sliders by using a crowbar to lift the door off the track. Anyway, long story short, we`ve decided that we are not safe with these sliders and are in the market for new ones.
Sounds like you are very satisfied with your new sliders. Could you point me to the vendor you used and describe the new sliders to me before we decide.

Also, if you would, please provide information on pricing for the various window products. We can`t go very high end like Blomberg, but are considering Milgards aluminum sliders.

Please e-mail vendor recommendations directly to: susan_leveille AT comcast.net

Thank you for your advice and congratulations on your new windows and sliders.
