"He owned the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, and hosted Bugatti events at Bien Sur. A Mullin passion project, the Big Sur property was purchased at different times, in eight sectors on 44 acres, [with Mullin] developing the property over his life."

At 2,536 square feet, the main residence, known as the Dragon House, is down by the water, with 180‐degree panoramic views over the Pacific that take our breath away. A funicular transports visitors to and from the ocean's edge, and a private cobblestone beach.
"After the 2017 storms washed out the road to the main house, the funicular was built, costing over $4 million," says Truszkowski. "Local architect Hunter Eldridge was the architect of the funicular. In Big Sur there's no such thing for a home to have one."

In addition to the main house, there are individual guesthouses and a caretaker's unit, all in a natural, park‐like setting. Imagine relaxing seaside with lush lawns, Zen gardens, outdoor view decks, and fire pits standing by. There's also an aquaponics‐based koi pond that was specially created on site.
Born in South Pasadena, Mullin got off to a humble start. Majoring in art at the University of California at Santa Barbara, the young entrepreneur turned to economics, eventually building a financial empire, and a world‐class collection of rare Bugatti and Delahaye antique automobiles.

In a loving tribute to her husband, Merle Mullin said, "Peter and I had the gift of 29 years together, traveling on a magic carpet ride, sprinkled with faerie dust, hand‐in‐hand, to the far corners of the world, all the while enjoying our beautiful homes in Los Angeles, Umbria, Italy, Perthshire, Scotland, and Big Sur. We exhibited, raced, and drove our beautiful, classic French cars together, throughout Europe, England, and the entire world, always executing on Peter's never-ending dreams…"
Bien Sur is a living piece of Peter Mullin's tremendous legacy.
