bathroom vent

I am going to have my current roof replaced due to leaks. I want to put a bathroom ventillation fan in the middle of the ceiling. The unit is about 12*12 inches and will project about 6 inches above the tongue and groove redwood boards of the roof.

I was planning on building a redwood box to support the unit, but was curious as to how I should cover it, and attach a roof vent to avoid future leaks.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Best to ask your current roofer what they recommend, as they will be the ones who will be sealing it off with the new roof.

But basicly building a box to house the fan box, electrical run into that fan box, the curb must be high enough for the roofer to do whatever.

The roof may not need a typical metal flashing, but think this is covered by code (I'm not up on that part and why only use licensed contractors, they should be up on codes).

Then the hat & vent cap. Again, the roofer should have recommendations on this.
