Help! Can someone tell me how you change the light bulbs in original Eichler globe fixtures?

There should be an aluminum cap at the top of the globe, on top of that cap where the long tube enters there will be a round nut that needs to be loosened. At that point you can lift the cap up and then you will need to gently maneuver the globe off. you sort of need to move it around 45 degrees to get the globe off.

Thanks dommi99. I would have thanked you earlier, but didn't have a tall enough ladder to try it out. Once I got up high enough to see the top of the globe, though, the answer was pretty obvious -- I guess that explains why no one else had posted my question before!

It's not that obvious; I posted the same question in 2003 when we bought the Eichler and to this day, I dislike replacing bulbs in those hanging globes because of having to maneuver off the globe.

Be sure to use CFB's; they have warnings not to be installed in an enclosed lamp but the energy efficiency (lower amperage draw & heat generation) makes them attractive - - in Eichler globes in my kitchen, they last about 2 years instead of the 7000-10000 hours claimed.
