We're also planning to move Washer/Dryer into the garage ... the only problem is that we couldn't locate any nearby sewer line, yet ... does anybody have a good way of finding out where they run ??? Are there any companies (plumber??) which can help with locating sewer lines ???

there are locator companies. call a few (large) plumbing companies. you *may* find one that offers this service. if they don't (typical), ask them who they refer their customers to for this service. they'll either give you the name of a company or a category in the yellow pages that you can use to search (they might be under "locator" services or sewer line services. just do a little digging, so to speak, and you'll find one). when you DO get someone to come out, note that they charge you for an hour or so, as a minimum. so, it may cost you $150 or so to find your sewer. but, it only takes them 15 minutes or so to do this. so, if you can, try to think of some other task for them to do while you have them (maybe map out your neighbors' lines, find the water lines, cut the grass, etc.).

kevin has posted about this before - that apparently you can contact companies that will come out and locate your sewer lines

you can also do some figurative 'digging' on your own first - look around on your front lawn for a sewer cleanout - usually capped with a removable cover that says 'sewer'. if you're yard doesn't have one look around at your neighbors' or similar homes in your neighborhood. a good guess depending on your eichler model is that the drain continues on a straight line from your master bath to guest bath and out through the front yard...

another thing to look for is that in some neighborhoods there is an "s" in the concrete on the curb where the sewer runs back under the street - expressly for the purpose of letting people know that it is there

check out other posts on this site too - you'll see discussions of the pros/cons of moving your w/d to garage - depending on where you find your drain line - you may decide it's not worth the $ involved
