Refreshing panelling

The house that we are buying has original mahogany in the LR, utility room, and kitchen. Is there any way to even out the coloring, or should I just shop for some picture frames to match the darkened patches from the previous owner's display? :) I confess that I like the warm gold tones of the faded panels more than the darker wood.

some light sanding with a sheet finishing sander and 120 grain paper usually does wonder. It is important not to overdo it. After the sanding the paneling will appear dull. Waxing takes care of that.
