Seeking Seismic Inspection in Palo Alto

We just purchased a 1954 Mackay in Midtown Palo Alto and would like to check-out its seismic fitness - especially after reading "Shake, Rattle...and Retrofit" here on the Network.

I called one East Bay seismic contractor and they said not to worry about it - MCM home on slab is bolted and should be fine in a quake. But I called a South Bay seismic contractor and after hearing that I have a MCM home, they referred me to a structural engineer (who wants a ton of $ to do an onsight eval.) since there are so many seismic issues with this type of home.

What's a girl to do - "Shake, Rattle...and Retrofit" really makes a strong case for retrofitting? Can local folks please tell me who you've used for a seismic inspection + retrofit?
