Meticulously working on a portion of the X-100's bathroom cabinetry that had delaminated over time, he was successful in repairing and restoring it. "In order to get epoxy underneath, I had to use elbow grease, rags, alcohol, rosin paper, and heat…to reactivate the 1956 adhesive," he says.
Always eager to take on a challenge, Wilson says he appreciates all of the Eichler homes' original details, and feels "a responsibility to restore whatever I'm working on to the way it's supposed to be—exactly."
Though Dura-Foam Roofing & Solar Center has been a 'Preferred Service Company' with the Network for more than two decades, current CEO Trevor Hill didn't enter the picture until recently to head the family business now in its 44th year.
As a firm believer in foam roofing for Eichlers, Hill likes speaking to the unique properties of polyurethane foam. "It's most important that we protect the things under the roof, fully waterproofed," he says. "And foam, when coupled with an elastomeric topcoat, does exactly that."

When asked how well foam roofs fare in fire situations, Hill explains that they are known to achieve a Class‐A assessment—the highest possible rating for fire resistance in roofing materials. "In fact, in 2024, when a fire ignited a Mountain View Eichler, it didn't spread to the adjacent home because our foam roofing system was in place there," he recalls. "Our foam application acted as a barrier—a very, very beneficial flame retardant."
Expect this level of knowledge from the vendors who appear in the Eichler Network Directory, not only in specialized repairs and roofing, but also in architecture, electrical, leak detection, air conditioning and supplemental heating, and so on.
Working in their own unique trades, both Steve Wilson and Trevor Hill, like so many other Eichler Network 'Preferred Service Companies,' rise to the challenges of Eichler renewal, and take pride in their professions.
Having grown up in an Eichler in Palo Alto, Wilson says, "It's funny, but you know how people used to think the Earth was the center of the universe? That's how I felt about our childhood Eichler—like it was the center of our universe, and now here I am."

Dura‐Foam's Hill is proud of the advancements he's seen in his family‐owned business. "The company has really evolved since I took it over," he says. "It's a great, old business, an institution in the Bay Area, but with new management came increased care of customers."
