front door hardware
Looking for an original front door knob and escuntion, either silver or bronze, with or without solid door.
Things might have changed (though I doubt it) but it has been very difficult to get the front door escutcheons. The front door assembly, to the best of my knowledge, was manufactured by Sargent. They no longer make them although someone recently investigated whether they would do a special run and they declined. No one else is currently manufacturing anything similar.
There are at least a dozen people on the board who have been looking for a front door escutcheon. But you never know your luck--2 new owners who moved into my neighbourhood recently lucked out and got the escutcheons through another neighbour. This seems to be a reasonable approach, let your neighbours know that you are looking for one (they might have kept their old one or know someone who has).
