If anyone knows where I can get my hands on at least 4 doors I would really appreciate any ideas. I live in Orange California and would love orginial good shape doors.

Thank you,

Mary Ann, I just replaced my 4 original interior hollow core doors with solid core mahogany veneered doors. A solid door cuts down on sound transmission significantly and it's worth every penny. And it just feels better: hollow core doors feel, well, "hollow" when you close them.

Keep in mind that Eichler was a large scale tract builder who was trying to make money. Some of the interior materials used were a long way from top quality. He had to do that to keep his prices down and help his profit margins.

Perhaps this is heresy to some, but there is nothing wrong with upgrading some aspects of Eichler interiors to better quality, more modern materials that maintain the mid-century look but provide significant advantages.

What I strongly object to is when people raze an Eichler and replace it with an oversized generic box of a house. The neighbors, and the entire neighborhood, suffers.

Thank you very much Barry, That is a great idea and think my husband and I will be taking you up on that suggestion. Any other good suggestions are always appreciated.

Sincerely,

Hello Barry,
Do you have a referral as to where you purchased your solid doors from? Thanks. E-mail directly to: edgar.chuang AT gmail.com
