I've got an original thermador oven that needs repair. Can someone recommend a repair guy?
What is broken? I have some limited spare parts.
hi
Our sellers left us a list of repair folks they have used for their original appliances in our Greenmeadow Eichler. I will take a look when I get home.
regards
Sally
Hi Tom,
I've got overseas guests at the moment so have not been monitoring the board as often as usual.
If you still are in need of a repair person, the Thermador authorized repair center for South Bay is:
Appliance Experts
1413 N. 10th Street
San Jose, CA
294-2698
The receptionist is not all that savvy on older Thermador models, so don't be put off. Just tell them that its a circa-1960 oven and they'll send the right guy. For reference, you might want to determine your model number--my information plate is on the face frame of the cavity at the bottom (the door closes against it).
I've used them twice and got the same chap both times. I thought he knew what he was doing and was very pleasant (sorry, I don't have the papers I wrote his name on handy). The first time, he connected an original stovetop for me (and checked the under-burner wiring) and also connected/checked an original single oven. The second time, he replaced the single oven with an original double-oven I'd gotten a hold of.
Some parts are no longer manufactured but if you need something that's not, he might be able to give you the number to check other sources (like fellow Eichler owners' stashes).
Hope this helps. Good luck.
Jake
P.S. If the oven is not repairable for some reason, be sure to ask which parts are worth keeping for others' repair (I did that as well--no sense junking what others might need.)
