We are in Willow Glen (San Jose) and would like to have an arbor built in the back. It would connect to the beams outside the master bedroom and would continue about 1/3 to 1/2 the length of the house.
Does anyone know a good contractor/fence company with both Eichler and arbor experience? The guys we used for our fence are terrific and do build arbors, but they want NO part of the design process, and we need help to come up with a simple eichler-compatible design.
Please send me an e-mail if you know of anyone.
Thanks much,
Cathye
My arbor works quite well. It is attached to the beams and provides good shade but is not massive.
Which compass direction do your back windows face? That is a big factor in the design.
What model is your house?
I am happy to send you a picture of our arbor if you wish.
Dan
Dan,
I'd really appreciate it if you would share your information/pictures with me as well. You can email me at:
Thanks!
Hi Dan:
The arbor would go off the master bedroom, which faces southeast. Our home is a flat-roofed courtyard model. I'd love photos, if possible. You can e-mail them to me at
Also
-Did you put any sunblock material over the top of the arbor, or just leave it as is? Hubby thinks we should put something over it that is waterproof, so that it provides more shade, plus a dry patio during the winter.
-What kind of wood is it? Did you paint or stain it?
-Who did the design?
Thanks again for the help,
Cathye
Dan,
Could you also please send me a picture of the arbor as well? I am very interested in seeing an Eichler-friendly design, .
Thanks.
Dan:
Just checking in. Any chance of getting an e-mail photo of your arbor? Thanks!
