Interesting. A couple of questions. . .

Are you going to protect the network and video wiring (perhaps like the original house wiring with a iron "L" channel) or just foam over it?

Will the wireless base station really work if you mount it inside a metal box? Seems like that box would be the next best thing to a Faraday enclosure. . .

We have a number of rooms with no network or video cabling and I am always looking for ideas. . . So far wireless seems like the easiest option.

wires: rick @ abril suggested that i simply secure the wires neatly to the roof and he'd foam over them. rumor has it that the channel (when the wires are live electric) is for protection of anyone on the roof (doing work with a shovel) more than for the wires themselves... and it's code that electrical wire be enclosed (but there's no code for data). the only benefit a channel would provide, methinks, would be to protect the wire itself from any damage which the foam would do just as well (and the voids left by the channel might not be good). if i have a spare minute and can stand to be on the roof for a few more hours, i might lay channel over the longer runs... dunno. what do you think the benefit of channel would be? truly worth the effort and expense?

wireless: the airport does indeed work well in the box... i was afraid of the same thing (as well as electrical interference), but presently, i get a very strong signal from anywhere in the house.
