Is this possible? Ours have been fillled in with concrete and we would dearly love to have them restored, but we have no idea if it can be done.....

As long as you know where they are, just hire somebody to bash them up and cart them out. Look in the services section of the classifieds under demolition or concrete. Although there may be electrical and plumbing lines under the atrium, apparently, they must either be pretty far down or not routed under the planters, because I haven't seen anything scary yet and I've been digging around a lot. I really like our planters although I haven't finished replacing all of the termite-gas damaged plants. It seems cooler than it would be with all concrete. I've planted star jasmine and gardenias. The atrium concentrates the scent and since we leave the doors onto the atrium open, it diffuses through the house.

By the way. Thanks for the Indian River paint tip. I went and had a quart mixed up and it is perfect. I overheard the paint guy telling his colleague that I was the second person to buy this color in two days. You may have started a trend.

That's excellent news... Ours are just beyond our glass to the backyard (as we don't (yet?!) have an atrium), and I was worried about digging/demolishing the concrete so close to the house/foundation/glass. But now we know we can look into it w/some hope of success...your plain choice sounds terrific, too!

Glad the paint color tip helped. I know that we are indebeted to these forums for suggestions about the process/finding Cabot cards, etc....
