We have an 1971 Eichler home. Recently I'm becoming aware the water is getting more and more rusty red -- more so in some locations. I could not think Eichler used steel water pipes but did they? Any one any idea? I would appreciate your advice.

not sure about the pipes--thought they were copper. But a similar thing happened to us, where our water was coming out with black specks. Our plumber flushed out the boiler of all things...and the new water came out clear out of our faucets!! I guess the boiler was backing up into our water system--don't know how or why, but it was. When he flushed out the water from the boiler, it was a coffee rusty color...hmmm...any possibility that this could be your problem? otherwise you could also check to see how old your water heater is and if the color is due to deposits in the water.

We only have rusty water from one faucet. My guess is some galvanized pipe between the copper and the faucet in the wall. I'll know soon...
