Source of old plumbing fixtures (knobs)?

A shower in our ~1975 vintage Eichleresque home is plumbed with separate valves for hot and cold.  The knobs mesh with the valve stems in a gear-like arrangement.  One of the knobs is stripped so that it spins freely on the valve stem.

A plumber whom I contacted can't find a replacement knob and recommends a ~$1k modernization.  I'd rather not do that for such a simple problem.
I bought a "universal" replacement knob at Home Depot, which can be made to work if I apply a hacksaw to the valve stem.   Not ideal either.
CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A SOURCE OF OLD FIXTURES, INCLUDING USED ONES, WHERE I MIGHT GET A REPLACMENT KNOB?
Thanks, Jack

Hi Jack,
Have you looked here for a 'house demolition/reclamation' business near you? You don't give a location. There was once a place called "Whole House" that salvaged everything of any potential value. It was just across the Bayshore from my part of the mid-Peninsula, so I went there often. I see it is now here:
Whole House Building Supply | 930 Rockefeller Dr, , Sunnyvale, CA 94087

If that address is far from you try asking Paul if there is something closer.

Thanks for the tip. I had heard that there was such as business in E Palo Alto but couldn't find it; sounds like that's because it has moved. I'll certainly check there; Sunnyvale isn't far from me in Palo Alto. Best, Jack
