I saw this posting on craigslist today. It looks like the owner is preparing to sell the house to anyone who might be wanting to bulldoze this "good condition eichler". I'd hate to see this happen... (sigh)

How'd this happen? I thought the Cupertino Eichlers had restrictions against this crap. I guess not. The neighborhood needs to be involved. They need to know that kind of development is NOT welcome.

I know the near-by Cliff May tract has seen a horrible invation of two story, lot line filling McMansions. they have ruined a once beautiful neighborhood.

The Fairgrove Cupertino Eichler neighborhood is located near the Cupertino High School, not Monta Vista.
If this is indeed an Eichler they're advertising, it must be a custom or
semi-custom home. I'm not aware of any Eichler tracts in the Monta Vista area. Or maybe it's a modern looking custom house designed and built by someone else.
Did anyone get the exact address? I'm curious...

Hi
Are you certain of the town? I checked MLS for both Cupertino and Saratoga, since they feed into MOnte Vista high....nothing at 1800 s.f. with a picture even remotely Eichler-esque.
Or is it from FSBO (for sale by owner?)

I emailed the owner of this house and I got the reply below. I blocked out the phone number because I don't think Eichler Network would allow me to do so. I don't want to call the owner because I'm not really interested in buying the home. However I emailed him back to try to get the address but so far no luck... If someone is interested in finding out about this home, please let me know so I can email you the owner's contact info, perhaps someone can save this house from being a McMansion.

"Hello!
Yes. the house is for sale by owner. If you want to get your real estate thats fine with me. It is an Eichler house. in a good conditon. 1800 sf. + play room and storage.( older house flat roof) this lot has a big potential for its size location. you can build 4500 sf home. I have renters right now, that keep the house in excelent condition. I can let them stay another year or let them go by the end of the lease. July 31, 2004

If you are a serious buyer , you can call me @ 510-XXX-XXXX."

It's not an Eichler. I obtained the address and drove by.
It's a flat-roofed house, ranch style, with board and batten siding and
stucco, and not very appealing.
If it were an Eichler I would be really interested, despite the somewhat blighted neighborhood.
I have no idea why the owner said it was an Eichler - maybe because of the flat roof?
