Existing Concrete Slab Demolition

Hi All,

I have an Eichler with the original exposed concrete floor slab. I am trying to do a new master bathroom with floor tile, but I do not know what is the best way to make a flush transition from existing concrete to tile.

Is the only way to demo out the existing concrete at the master bathroom before laying tile? Or possibly micro-floating a thin layer of new concrete over the existing concrete to match the higher tile flooring? Also, is there a way to patch the existing concrete floor and have it visually blend in (so the patch is invisible)?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

On my bathroom project I transitioned to carpet but I found at the tile distributors a large variety of aluminum or other metal transition strips up to 1.5 inches wide. They looked sharp. I recommend you not demo the existing master bath concrete as there are pipes in there and water would wick up from the ground.
