I am looking for the original rocker wall light switches from my 1962 Eichler. I don't see any manufacturer's name on them. Only 15 amp, 120 v.

Anyone know where to find some?

Thanks!

I see no one has replied, so I'll add my 2 cents.

The circa1950 bakelite rocker switches are not easy to find. Your best bet (as it is for most out-of-production Eichler items) is the other Eichler owners in your neighborhood. (Also, the switches aren't unique to Eichlers so other neighborhood homes of that era are also a possible source.) Chat up your immediate neighbors and, if you have a neighborhood elist, send out a email letting folks know what you are looking for. Someone might be planning to do a kitchen or bathroom renovation. Most people who renovate those spaces, change out their electrical switches and switchplates.

In the meantime, take a look in OSH or Home Depot (or an Ace Hardware) to find the modern equivalent of the original dark brown switches and switchplates. They will be flip switches but will likely do the job until you find the rocker switches (if you do). Also, consider rearranging the ones you do have to put them in the "public spaces" of your home. (Do you have one in your garage or bedroom you could re-purpose?)

I did all of the above: got a couple from neighbors, moved a couple around, and picked up modern day equivalents for the rest. Works for me.

Cheers.

I have three of these switches (and the face plates) if you're still looking for originals. Happy to give them to you. I'm in San Rafael. You can contact me at randallATrandallberen.com
