anyone out there have a concrete floor? If so what do you use to clean it? Ours is horrifically scuffed and dirty. There is a glaze that is to be applied twice a year but we hesitate to do so until the floor is clean.

We've tried several cleaners but nothing has worked well.
thanks!

This may be off topic, or it may help. It's worth a try anyway.

There is a tile setting forum at http://www.johnbridge.com - and the guys over there know everything there is to know about working with tile, natural stone (limestone, granite, marble) in flooring, shower/bath and outdoor applications. They also provide advice on the age old problem of properly cleaning and sealing grout.

The forums are very active (they have one just dedictated to cleaning and maintenance) with professionals and DIY'ers alike. I think it is worth a post over there, as I am sure some of the professionals have probably had experience w concrete flooring by now, since it is so popular in some areas.

The other web forum to look at is the flooring forum at http://www.thathomesite.com - it would be another good (possible) source of information.

I know that for cleaning heavy stains from some types of grout and concrete, they use phosphoric acid, but I would not do that if yours has a surface colorant already applied to it, as it could remove or etch it. Not so good.

Anyone you ask will want to know exactly what material you have on the concrete now as well.

Cheers,

Cathye
