I think I found a neighborhood of 'em in southwest Woodland-Eldorado Drive Area-could I be correct? I'll be posting some pics on lottaliving.com soon.

Wishing for modern home.

Hi There,

Yes, there are a large number of Streng Bros. Homes in South west Woodland. If you take Cottonwood south of Gibson, you'll see them near Zamora Elementary.

As a side note, I grew up in the first Streng Bros. home to be built in Woodland, at the corner of Wendell and Greenwood drives. It happens to be across the street from a custom Carson Sparks home on Greenwood (he was the main architect for Streng Bros.) We originally had one built for us in Sacramento on American River Drive in roughly 1972. I remember sitting on my Mom's lap and talking with Carson Sparks about which room would be mine while my parents picked out all of the options. We liked the home so much, that when we moved to Woodland, we had Streng Bros. build us one just like it, only with some custom touches (mainly extra insulation and better quality finishes.) It equivalent to the Eichler's that we now call "semi-custom".

Marty, if you're looking to do a feature on a Streng Bros. home, my mom's would probably be as good as any. It's something of an "ultimate" Streng Bros. Home.

I also knew Bill Streng's daughter Ellen Streng. We went to school together. Very nice and very smart girl.

Growing up in a Streng Bros. home is one of the main reasons that I wanted to live in modernist homes, and Eichlers in particular. I've rented some interesting Modernist homes, including a 1939 Kem Weber Streamline Moderne house in the LA area, and when we moved to the Bay Area, I knew I wanted an Eichler. We actually went door to door in Walnut Creek and Concord with flyers asking folks to sell their Eichler as there were none on the market at the time we were looking.

There are also a large number in Davis, and many late 60's Streng Bros. duplexes off of Covell Road.

I suspected as much. And it looks like there were a few duplex homes there as well. Originally I wanted to get some pics of the Davis ones but didn't know where they were (now I know where to look). I got lucky just cruising thru Woodland not really trying to find them and I found their location(s). Any one know where they are in other locations that Streng built-particularly in Sacramento.

There's quite a few along American River Dr. and others in Carmichael. I'm interested to know of other locations in and around Sacramento as well :)

FYI - Look for street names like "The Way", "The Street", "In Court", "Our Way".

I live in a Streng in Citrus Height off of Our Way. These homes are between Greenback and Madison, Sunrise and San Juan. Their are little pockets of Streng through and a few streets with only Streng, In Court, Our Way and Riddo are all mainly Streng.

Grew up in an Eichler;
Moved to Sac County;
Purchased a Streng
